Generic Xalatan 0.005%

Description

Xalatan 0.005% is an antiglaucoma drug. It is used to reduce increased intraocular pressure, both in adults and in children, as well as for those who have increased ophthalmotonus.

Composition and analogues of the drug.

The main component in the composition: latanoprost.
Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydrogen phosphate, benzalkonium chloride, water.

Pharmachologic effect.

After the introduction of the drug, the effect begins after 3-4 hours. The maximum effect is observed after 8-12 hours. Valid up to 24 hours. Maximally reduces intraocular pressure, due to an increase in the outflow of aqueous humor and to the hematoma barrier.

How to use and dosage.

Apply daily drip on the eyes 1 time per day. It is advisable to drip in the evening or before bedtime.

As with the use of any eye drops, in order to reduce the possible systemic effect of the drug, immediately after instillation of each drop, it is recommended to press on the lower lacrimal opening, located at the inner corner of the eye on the lower eyelid. This must be done within 1 minute.

Side effects and contraindications.

Side effects: eye irritation, eye pain, blepharitis, blurred vision, dry eyes, dizziness, headache, darkening around the eyes in the eyelids, muscle pain, joint pain.
Contraindications: age up to 1 year, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
