Description
Amaryl is a hypoglycemic drug. Used in type 2 diabetes to lower blood sugar levels. Can be used as a combination therapy with other sugar-lowering drugs.
Composition and Analogues.
The main active ingredient in the composition is glimpemide.
Excipients: lactose monohydrate, sodium carboxymethyl starch, povidone, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stereate, indigo carmine.
Analogues: Glime, Glemaz, Glemauno, Glimepiride, Glimepiride Canon.
How does the drug work?
Glimeperide lowers blood sugar levels by releasing insulin from the pancreas and the effect is predominantly associated with an improvement in the ability of pancreatic beta cells. Glimperide may respond to insulin secretion and close potassium channels. Glimepiride binds to and is released from the binding protein much faster and therefore more frequently than glibenclamide.
How to take and dosage.
During treatment with Amaryl, it is necessary to regularly determine the level of glucose in the blood. In addition, regular monitoring of the level of glycosylated hemoglobin is recommended.
The initial dose is 1 mg 1 time per day. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 2-3-4-5-6-7-8 mg per day, observing the interval between dose increases.
Side effects and contraindications.
Side effect: nausea, diarrhea, feeling of heaviness in the epigastric region, headache, fatigue, weakness, dizziness.
Contraindications: type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic precoma, coma. Infectious diseases, impaired renal and hepatic function, hypersensitivity to sulfonylurea derivatives, pregnancy, breastfeeding period.
